Hello There!

Google Earth just got powerful new AI upgrades — you can now chat with it like ChatGPT to ask things like where storms are forming, droughts are worsening, or pollution is rising — and it instantly shows you the answers on the map, helping you see and understand our planet in real time. Meanwhile, OpenAI is making a strategic move by acquiring the team behind Apple’s Shortcuts app, aiming to blend their macOS expertise into ChatGPT’s design. Together, these shifts hint at a future where AI quietly powers the tools we already use, making everyday exploration and creativity feel effortless.

AI is weaving itself into everyday life — from mapping the planet’s risks to reimagining how we create and connect.

🧠The Pulse

You can now talk to Google Earth just like you talk to ChatGPT. The new Gemini-powered update lets you ask real-world questions such as ā€œWhich towns could be hit by storms this week?ā€ or ā€œWhere are droughts getting worse?ā€ The AI reads maps, weather, and satellite data to give fast, visual answers.

šŸ“ŒThe Download

  • Google has added Gemini to its Earth AI models so people can ask questions in plain language. It studies live satellite images, weather patterns, and city data to point out things like algae growth, dust storms, or flood risks. It can even mark danger zones directly on the map for easy viewing.

  • The new chat is available first to ā€œtrusted testersā€ in the US. Google says more regions will follow soon. Anyone using Earth Pro or Earth Ultra can connect their own data with Google’s AI to study topics like rising sea levels, traffic, or pollution. This gives climate experts, NGOs, and planners stronger tools for quick insights.

  • Earth AI first launched in July 2025 and is part of Google’s ā€œGeospatial Reasoningā€ system. It combines Gemini’s language skills with environmental models that track weather, population, and satellite data from 100+ sources. This update turns Google Earth from a 3D globe into a living assistant that helps predict and plan for climate risks.

šŸ’”What This Means for You

This update makes Google Earth useful for everyone, not just experts. You can soon ask it simple questions like ā€œIs my area at risk of flooding?ā€ or ā€œWhere is the drought worst right now?ā€ Instead of searching dozens of sites, one chat with Earth could give you clear, instant answers.

🧠The Pulse

OpenAI has bought the team behind Apple’s Shortcuts app. They created Workflow in 2017, which Apple turned into Shortcuts. Their latest AI tool, Sky, can understand your Mac screen and act on it. Now this technology is becoming part of ChatGPT, making it feel like an assistant built right into your computer.

šŸ“ŒThe Download

  • The startup Software Applications Incorporated, or SAI, made Workflow years ago and later built Sky, a Mac app that listens to what you say and performs actions instantly. You can tell it to open files, send messages, or organize apps. OpenAI confirmed that the full SAI team and product are joining its company to bring this experience into ChatGPT.

  • The deal was announced on Oct 23 2025 in OpenAI’s official blog and reported by TechCrunch and The Verge. The small 12-person team from San Francisco will now work with OpenAI’s product division. The company says it plans to add Sky’s deep macOS design and smooth interface into ChatGPT. No amount or valuation was revealed.

  • OpenAI believes this move will make ChatGPT smarter at handling real computer tasks instead of just answering questions. Sky already understands what’s on your screen and can control apps directly, something that Apple Intelligence or Siri still struggle to do. With this, OpenAI is aiming to make ChatGPT feel like a native part of your Mac. Analysts see this as a major step toward AI that works across devices, not just online.

šŸ’”What This Means for You

Soon you may be able to talk to your Mac and get things done without clicking. This could help you speed up editing, writing, or managing tasks directly through ChatGPT. The line between your AI assistant and your desktop is fading fast, and you might not need to type as much anymore.
