Sam Altman says ChatGPT will not answer suicide questions from teens anymore. This follows the heartbreaking death of a 16-year-old whose chats with AI were blamed for his suicide. OpenAI now promises stricter protection for kids and parents will soon get new controls to monitor how their children use ChatGPT.
šThe Download
The announcement came hours before a US Senate hearing where parents of teens who died after using chatbots shared their stories. Lawmakers pressed Altman and other tech leaders to protect kids. The Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism warned that AI can cause real harm if left unchecked.
OpenAI is building an age prediction system to identify under-18 users by looking at patterns like writing style and chat behavior. If the system is unsure it will automatically place the user in teen mode. In some regions kids may need ID checks such as passports or driver licenses to confirm their age.
The teen version blocks suicide and self harm discussions, sexual content, and flirtatious answers. Parents will soon get a control panel to turn off memory, limit features, and receive alerts if the system detects distress. OpenAI says these updates will roll out in 4 months while lawsuits from grieving families continue.
š”What This Means for You
If your kids try ChatGPT they will face stronger guardrails. This means fewer risks but also more parental oversight. For professionals using AI the lesson is clear. Regulation and tragedy are now shaping the future of AI as much as technology. The focus has moved to keeping families safe.
š§ The Pulse
YouTube just launched powerful AI tools that can turn small creators into global businesses. The update brings an AI assistant that gives content ideas, growth tips, and traffic insights. It also adds instant video dubbing in multiple languages with lip sync. For many creators, this feels like a shortcut to success.
šThe Download
At the Made on YouTube event in New York, YouTube introduced Ask Studio, an AI helper inside YouTube Studio. It summarizes thousands of comments in seconds, suggests new video topics, shows where views come from, and guides creators step by step. This reduces guesswork and helps even beginners grow faster.
Another upgrade focuses on thumbnails and titles. YouTube now offers A/B testing so creators can upload multiple versions and see which one gets the most clicks. Since thumbnails and titles decide whether viewers even open a video, this feature can directly boost watch numbers and revenue. It is like having real-time marketing feedback built in.
YouTube also released multi-language dubbing with lip sync. The feature was tested by stars like MrBeast and Jamie Oliver and now it is open to everyone. Creators can turn an English video into Spanish, Hindi, Japanese, or Korean in minutes. Viewers can switch languages with one click, opening access to millions more fans.
š”What This Means for You
If you ever felt stuck with video ideas or struggled to grow views, YouTube AI can change the game. These tools can help small creators cut work by 50%, reach 10X more people, and grow revenue faster. The chance to grow is here, the only question is who will act first.

Google has introduced a new way to let AI shop for you. The system is called Agent Payments Protocol or AP2. It allows digital agents to place orders while promising strong safety checks. With support from Mastercard, PayPal, and more than 60 partners, AI shopping could become real very soon.
šThe Download
Google announced AP2 this week. It is a framework that gives AI agents the power to complete payments for users. Instead of simple card links, AP2 works with āmandates.ā These are digital agreements that state what an AI can buy, when it can buy, and how much it can spend. This creates a clear record for every action and helps stop fraud.
More than 60 partners are already involved. This list includes Mastercard, PayPal, American Express, Coinbase, Revolut, and Etsy. AP2 is designed to handle different kinds of payments such as credit cards, debit cards, direct bank transfers, and crypto. This makes it much more flexible than the current checkout systems used online.
Google says safety is the first priority. AP2 will use real-time fraud checks, user consent rules, and spending limits. The system is not fully live yet and is being tested with partners. Still, the launch comes at a time when regulators in the US, UK, and EU are asking how much control AI should have over peopleās money.
š”What This Means for You
AI will soon do more than suggest what to buy. It may actually press the buy button for you. This means less time on checkout screens but more reliance on rules set in advance. The big question is simple. Will you trust AI enough to spend your money for you?

TikTokās future in the US has been sealed. A group of American investors led by Oracle, Silver Lake and Andreessen Horowitz will take control of the app. ByteDance will step back with a smaller stake. The move comes after months of debate and a looming ban deadline in December.
šThe Download
The new US company will handle TikTokās local business. Oracle, Silver Lake and Andreessen Horowitz will hold 80% while ByteDance and Chinese shareholders keep less than 20%. The board will be mostly American and 1 member will be selected by the US government. Talks between Washington and Beijing shaped this deal.
TikTokās US arm is valued at $35ā40B. The US law passed in 2024 forced foreign-owned apps to sell or face a ban. The deadline to comply is December 16, 2025. Oracle will store US user data in its Texas centers, a plan earlier known as Project Texas.
A separate app will be launched for US users with its own system and algorithm. ByteDance may license its technology to the new company. Critics argue this could let China keep some influence. Congress is asking if the setup is secure enough while China still needs to approve the deal.
š”What This Means for You
TikTok in the US will not stay the same. A new app and algorithm could change what you see, how videos spread, and which ads appear. Your feed, favorite creators, and trends may look different soon. The final outcome now depends on both Washington and Beijing.

š¬ Disney, Universal and Warner Bros Discovery have filed a lawsuit against Chinaās MiniMax: They say its AI service Hailuo AI was trained on copyrighted movies and images taken from them. The studios argue that MiniMax built the system using stolen intellectual property. This case is important because it may set a global precedent for how AI companies use data to train models and how copyright laws will be applied.
š AT&T is testing an AI assistant that works like a digital receptionist: It is designed to screen calls and block spam by checking call history and network data. A small group of customers will get access this year. Andy Markus, the Chief Data Officer of AT&T, says this is only the starting point. In the future the AI may also book reservations or schedule appointments. This would make it similar to what Googleās AI assistant already offers.

KEY QUOTES AND STRATEGIC INSIGHTS
"Whenever I hear people saying AI is going to hurt people in the future I think, technology can generally always be used for good and bad and you need to be careful about how you build it. If youāre arguing against AI, then youāre arguing against safer cars that arenāt going to have accidents, and youāre arguing against being able to better diagnose people when theyāre sick."
