OpenAI said on August 31 that ChatGPT Ads has reached a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate, roughly 200 days after the format launched. Tens of thousands of advertisers now buy through it, and self-serve access opened the same day across 31 European markets alongside India, the Middle East and North Africa.

Run rate, not cash banked – Estimates put actual booked ad revenue near $330 million so far, against an internal 2026 target of $2.5 billion.
Self-serve goes global – Advertisers across 31 European markets, plus India, the Middle East and North Africa, can now buy directly through Ads Manager.

Saudi Arabia’s HUMAIN unveiled the Horizon Ultra at the Leap conference in Riyadh on August 31. Built on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite platform, it runs AI models on the device rather than sending tasks to a remote data center. Enterprise customers get it from September 20.

Erdős problems, a famous catalogue of open questions in mathematics, are starting to fall to AI. A Google DeepMind team reported an agent autonomously resolving nine of 353 open problems at a few hundred dollars of compute each, while an OpenAI model found a counterexample disproving a conjecture that had stood since 1946.
