🚨 Tesla Just Covered an Entire City With 20 Driverless Cars

Tesla's unsupervised robotaxis now roam all of Austin, Apple is rebuilding Siri on Google's Gemini and Nvidia's chips, and DeepSeek is raising a record $7.4 billion.

2026 State of AEO Report

A year ago, most marketers weren't thinking about AI search. Now it's one of the fastest moving channels in the industry and nobody has a playbook yet.

So we built one. We surveyed hundreds of marketers to find out how they're approaching answer engine optimization, where they're investing, what's actually working, and what isn't.

The result is the 2026 State of AEO Report. Real data. Real strategies. A clear picture of where AI search is headed and how to get ahead of it.

Hello There!

Tesla just flipped its unsupervised robotaxis loose across the entire Austin metro with a fleet of roughly 20 cars, which means America's boldest self-driving rollout is also its most exclusive ride. Apple is reportedly rebuilding Siri on Google's Gemini and Nvidia's chips for a September debut, which means your iPhone's assistant is about to get a brain transplant from its biggest rival. And DeepSeek is raising $7.4 billion in its first-ever funding round at up to a $59 billion valuation, which means China's open-model underdog just became a heavyweight.

🧠The Pulse

Tesla has expanded its unsupervised robotaxi service to cover the entire Austin metro area, more than doubling its operating zone and adding highway driving on Interstate 35. It's the company's biggest autonomy milestone yet — but with roughly 20 active driverless cars, the rollout is bolder on the map than on the street.

📌The Download

  • Austin goes wide – The new geofence covers the full Austin metro, adds Interstate 35 highway driving and pulls in suburbs like Pflugerville and Manor, going live at 10 a.m. on June 3.

  • The fleet is tiny – Independent trackers count roughly 20 active unsupervised Teslas in Austin — far behind Waymo's local fleet, and a number that has been falling, not rising, in recent months.

  • Why Tesla is waiting – Elon Musk says Tesla won't scale the fleet aggressively until the FSD v15 software rewrite lands, pushing a real ramp to late 2026 or early 2027.

  • The stakes are huge – The robotaxi rollout anchors Musk's case that Tesla is an AI and robotics company, so execution in Austin shapes the valuation story far beyond Texas.

💡What This Means for You

This is a live case study in scaling: coverage doubled, capacity didn't. When you evaluate AI initiatives at work, look past the announcement map to throughput, wait times and reliability. Winners in autonomy — and in your own AI projects — will be decided by operational execution, not geofence size.

🧠The Pulse

Apple's long-awaited Siri overhaul is reportedly arriving in September, powered by a custom version of Google's Gemini running on Nvidia Blackwell B200 chips in Google Cloud. The world's most valuable device maker is effectively outsourcing Siri's brain to its biggest mobile rival — with privacy tech as the bridge.

📌The Download

  • Gemini inside – Apple is using a version of Google's Gemini model and distilling it into a smaller model that runs locally on iPhones, while harder queries go to the cloud.

  • Nvidia under the hood – Heavy Siri queries will run on Google's fleet of Nvidia Blackwell B200 GPUs, giving Apple frontier-scale compute without building its own.

  • Privacy is the catch – Apple will use Nvidia's confidential computing to keep data encrypted even while it's being processed, preserving its privacy promises on rented hardware.

  • September deadline – Reports point to the next-generation Siri launching in September, ending years of delays that left Siri trailing ChatGPT and Gemini.

💡What This Means for You

Even Apple is buying AI capability instead of building everything in-house. That's the template for most organizations: combine partners' strengths, keep control of the customer experience and data governance, and ship faster. Audit your own build-vs-buy assumptions — pride of ownership is rarely worth a two-year delay.

🧠The Pulse

DeepSeek, the Chinese lab that shook the AI world with cheap frontier models, is nearing its first-ever external funding round: about $7.4 billion at a valuation of up to $59 billion. Tencent, CATL, NetEase and JD.com are lining up to back China's open-model champion as it shifts from outsider to heavyweight.

📌The Download

  • A strategic U-turn – DeepSeek famously refused outside capital, running on founder Liang Wenfeng's High-Flyer hedge fund; this round trades that independence for scale.

  • The founder doubles down – Liang himself is committing 20 billion yuan, making him the single largest contributor to his own funding round.

  • Heavyweight backers – Tencent is expected to invest about 10 billion yuan and CATL about 5 billion, with NetEase and JD.com around 3 billion each.

  • Valuation rocket – At $52–59 billion post-money, DeepSeek would be worth nearly six times its April figure of $10 billion — one of China's largest tech rounds ever.

💡What This Means for You

The AI race is now a capital race on both sides of the Pacific. A $59 billion DeepSeek will keep pushing down the price of capable models, which pressures every AI vendor you buy from. Keep your skills portable across models — pricing, capability and vendor power are about to shift again.

Stocks can stay expensive for a long time...

It’s one metric to consider, but when your portfolio is built around the most expensive equities in modern history, what else you diversify with could really matter.
