Hello There!

ChatGPT can now read your message history and fire off iMessages on your behalf, which means the last place you still sounded entirely like yourself has become optional. Nvidia’s coding agent scored a flawless 100 on a benchmark the underlying model only managed about 30% on alone, which means the scaffolding around a model is now worth more than the model. And the IMF’s chief economist warns AI may push prices up before it pushes them down, which means the productivity dividend arrives well after the bill does.

Here’s what’s making headlines in the world of AI and innovation today.

🧠 The Pulse

OpenAI has given ChatGPT on Mac direct access to Apple’s Messages app. With permission it can search your message history, draft replies and send iMessages on your behalf, and even analyse who you talk to and what about. It is opt-in, Mac-only, and limited to ChatGPT Work and Codex users for now.

📌 The Download

  • Read, draft and send – ChatGPT can search your Messages history, compose replies and send them through the Apple Messages app on desktop.

  • Permission-heavy setup – Enabling it means granting on-device message access, Full Disk Access in System Settings, plus contacts and automation permissions.

  • Narrow rollout – The integration is Mac-only and currently limited to ChatGPT Work and Codex subscribers.

  • An awkward moment for Apple – Bloomberg flagged privacy and security questions, and it is unclear whether Apple sanctioned the plugin amid an ongoing legal dispute with OpenAI.

💡 What This Means for You

Email was the first thing AI learned to write for you; private messages are next. Before anyone on your team switches this on, put the rules in writing: which channels are in scope, whether the other party is told, and who is accountable when the agent sends something it should not have.

🧠 The Pulse

Nvidia says its general-purpose coding agent, AVO, scored a perfect 100 on the ARC-AGI-3 interactive reasoning benchmark, completing all 183 levels across all 25 public environments with no instructions, stated rules or goals. Claude Opus 5 on its own managed roughly 30% on the same test, making the wrapper the real story.

📌 The Download

  • A perfect run – AVO finished all 183 levels across 25 environments in 6,624 environment actions for a 100.00 score.

  • The model alone falls short – Claude Opus 5 at high reasoning effort scored around 30%; the surrounding system converted that capability into sustained progress.

  • Efficiency edge – AVO needed roughly 12% fewer actions than the comparable VISTA system to clear the same 183 levels.

  • How it works – Persistent memory carries prior work forward while a supervisor redirects effort whenever progress stalls, enabling long-horizon autonomy.

💡 What This Means for You

The lesson here is architectural, not academic. The same model performed roughly three times better once it was wrapped in memory, supervision and a retry loop. If your AI pilot is underwhelming, the fix is probably not a bigger model but a better process around it: clear checkpoints, persistent context and a defined escalation path.

🧠 The Pulse

IMF chief economist Silvana Tenreyro has warned that AI’s inflation impact is ambiguous, and that the boom may raise prices well before productivity gains lower them. Investment and spending surge ahead of realised productivity, creating shortages, and memory and graphics-chip prices have already climbed, feeding straight through to phones and laptops.

📌 The Download

  • Ambiguous, not deflationary – Tenreyro argues the inflation effect of anticipated productivity gains is unclear, despite the assumption that productivity always lowers prices.

  • Spending runs ahead – Business investment and household spending can both move before real productivity arrives, as many argue is happening now with AI infrastructure.

  • Already in your bill – Memory and graphics-chip prices have surged on data-centre demand, raising costs for phones, laptops and consumer electronics.

  • Sector matters – Service-sector productivity gains are more likely to cool domestic inflation, while export-side gains can lift wages and demand and push it up.

💡 What This Means for You

If you are building a multi-year AI business case, do not assume costs fall on schedule. Hardware, cloud and energy inputs can rise while your savings are still theoretical. Stage the investment, tie each phase to benefit you have actually realised, and stress-test the assumption that compute keeps getting cheaper.
