Hello There!

OpenAI just turned ChatGPT into a data analyst that builds dashboards on request, which means the person who used to say "I'll get back to you next week" is now a text box. Meta's AI got caught building a profile of a mother's young daughters from her own posts, which means "only information you already had access to" is a much scarier sentence than it sounds. And a Chinese Nvidia challenger closed its first day of trading up 179%, which means the AI chip race now has a second scoreboard.

Office worker building a dashboard by chatting with an AI assistant

🧠 The Pulse

OpenAI has launched a Data agent inside ChatGPT Work that connects to a company's own data sources, investigates a business question, and builds an interactive dashboard from a plain-English request. No SQL, no separate BI tool, no waiting on an analyst. Admins switch it on from the Plugins settings and staff simply start a conversation with @Data.

📌 The Download

  • It plugs into the real stack – Data connects to Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, MongoDB and more, plus files in Google Drive and SharePoint.

  • It speaks your company's language – The agent reads existing metric definitions and semantic layers such as dbt and Snowflake Horizon, so "active customer" means what your finance team says it means.

  • Dashboards become a byproduct – Findings turn into editable, shareable dashboards and can be pushed straight into Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, Omni, Oracle BI or ThoughtSpot.

  • Permissions stay intact – Queries run under each user's existing table, row and column access, and results can be shared to Slack or email from the same chat.

💡 What This Means for You

The gap between asking a question and seeing the evidence just collapsed. For anyone running improvement projects, that is the Measure and Analyze phases on demand. The skill that matters now is asking sharp questions and sanity-checking the answer, not building the chart.

AI assistant assembling scattered social media posts into a personal profile

🧠 The Pulse

Meta is changing the prompts its AI assistant suggests after a viral video showed it asking a mother "Who's the child passenger?" under a clip of her singing with her daughter, then assembling the girls' names, ages and likely home location from her posts and relatives' posts. Meta says it "missed the mark" and has fixed the issue.

📌 The Download

  • One click, one dossier – Tapping the suggested prompt pulled details about the user's daughters from across Facebook and Instagram and even attempted to pinpoint where the family lives.

  • Meta's defense – The company says the feature only surfaces content the user already had access to and was built to help people explore topics in posts that interest them.

  • The fix is narrow – Meta says it has stopped the assistant suggesting prompts about personal topics, but the underlying ability to connect scattered posts is unchanged.

  • Bad timing – The incident lands as Meta rolls AI deeper into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger and faces regulatory scrutiny over children's data.

💡 What This Means for You

AI does not need private data to be invasive; it only needs to connect the public pieces. Before you wire a workplace assistant into email, chat and files, ask what it could infer by joining them, not just what it can read. "Accessible" and "appropriate to surface" are two different permissions.

Traders celebrating an AI chip IPO debut on a Shanghai exchange floor

🧠 The Pulse

Tencent-backed AI chipmaker Enflame closed 179% above its offer price on its first day on Shanghai's STAR Market after raising about $912 million. The stock opened at 410 yuan against an IPO price of 142.18, touched 475 intraday, and finished with a market value near 171 billion yuan, roughly $25.5 billion.

📌 The Download

  • Demand was absurd – The retail tranche was oversubscribed 4,073 times, with about 7 million individual investors bidding and an allocation rate of just 0.025%.

  • The last dragon lists – Enflame is the final member of China's "four little dragons" of AI chips to go public, after Moore Threads, MetaX and Biren.

  • One customer, most of the revenue – Tencent holds roughly 18 to 20% of the company and accounted for about 84% of its 2025 sales, a serious concentration risk.

  • Still losing money – Enflame remains unprofitable, still depends on overseas foundries, and targets breakeven in 2026 or 2027 while funding fifth and sixth-generation chips from the IPO proceeds.

💡 What This Means for You

Investors are pricing a world where AI hardware splits along geographic lines. For operations and supply-chain professionals, that means model performance, pricing and availability will increasingly depend on which ecosystem your tools sit in. Start tracking chip supply the way you track any other single-source risk.
