🧠The Pulse

OpenAI has made a surprising move into personal finance. It acquired Roi, a startup backed by NBA star Kevin Durant. Roi offered AI tips for stocks, crypto, and NFTs. On Oct 15 the app will shut down, wipe all user data, and its CEO will move to OpenAI while the rest of the team exits.

📌The Download

  • Roi was built to give everyday investors AI-powered insights, education, and guidance. It mixed traditional stock options with crypto and NFTs to make investing simple. The startup caught attention with backing from Spark Capital, Gradient Ventures, Balaji Srinivasan, and Kevin Durant’s firm 35 Ventures. 

  • The deal is seen as an acqui-hire. Roi’s co-founder and CEO, Sujith Vishwajith, is moving to OpenAI. The other 4 team members will leave. Roi had earlier raised $3.6M in funding, but the financial terms of the OpenAI deal remain undisclosed.

  • The app will officially shut down on Oct 15. All accounts, assets, and user data will be deleted. This ensures a full stop to the service. OpenAI has not explained how it will use Roi’s technology. However, the move signals that OpenAI may be preparing new personalized AI tools that could extend beyond chat and into personal money management.

Now you can call Google’s AI coder Jules right from your terminal or even inside Slack. This means no extra tabs, no switching tools. Just one command and Jules can write features, fix bugs, or update dependencies. For developers, this is a faster and easier way to get work done.

  • Google has launched a command-line tool and an API for Jules. Before this update, you could only use Jules on GitHub or a website. Now you can type a simple command in the terminal or connect it to Slack. This gives developers instant access to the tools they already use every day.

  • With the new API, teams can plug Jules into chat apps or build pipelines that run tasks automatically. VentureBeat reports the CLI installs through npm and can run commands like jules --theme light. Jules now remembers user preferences, supports environment variables, and can point directly to specific files. These upgrades mean less rework and fewer steps for developers.

  • Security is built into how Jules works. InfoQ confirms it copies your codebase into a private Google Cloud VM, runs tasks there, and then creates a pull request for you to review. ITPro says a new “critic” mode checks the AI’s own code before it reaches you. Google also confirmed Workspace integration will roll out later this month.

Elon Musk’s AI company xAI is paying people up to $100 an hour to help Grok learn how to make video games. The AI needs human tutors who can explain what makes a game fun, balanced, and creative. For anyone with gaming or design skills, this is a surprising new opportunity.

📌The Download

  • xAI recently listed a “Video Games Tutor” role where humans will guide Grok in gameplay mechanics, storytelling, and design. This is not about just playing games. It involves critiquing, labeling, and teaching the AI so it can excel in creating new games. Applicants with a portfolio in design have an advantage.

  • The job is based in Palo Alto and also allows remote work. However, US applicants cannot live in Wyoming or Illinois. Training requires 2 weeks of working 9 am to 5.30 pm PST. After that, schedules adjust by time zone. Applicants must use their own Mac, Windows 10+ PC, or Chromebook plus a smartphone. Pay ranges from $45 to $100 per hour.

  • The timing is important. Only weeks ago, xAI cut around 500 data annotators. Musk’s company is replacing them with specialized tutors in fields like STEM, medicine, safety, and now video games. This move shows that xAI believes domain experts will teach Grok skills that general workers cannot provide.

Microsoft has changed the game. For $19.99 a month, the same price as ChatGPT Plus, you now get Office apps like Word and Excel together with its AI Copilot. One plan covers everything. No extra payments, no confusion. It is a single subscription that delivers both productivity and advanced AI.

  • Microsoft has introduced a new plan called Microsoft 365 Premium on October 1, 2025. It combines Office with Copilot AI in a single package. The price is $19.99 per month. This is the same as ChatGPT Plus, and it replaces the separate Copilot Pro plan that once cost an extra $20 on top of Microsoft 365.

  • Premium gives you the highest AI usage limits and access to exclusive tools. These include Researcher, Analyst, and Actions, along with Copilot Labs. You also get early access to experimental features such as Agent Mode and Office Agent. At the same time, users of the basic Personal and Family plans will see higher AI allowances without paying more.

  • There are still rules. AI features only work for the main account holder, not for shared family members. However, Microsoft is adding more value. Each person gets 1 TB of cloud storage, stronger protection with Microsoft Defender, and updated app icons across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Existing Copilot Pro customers can switch over smoothly.

💡What This Means for You

Microsoft is now putting strong AI inside the tools you already use. If you are paying for ChatGPT Plus today, you may want to compare where your $20 gives you more. The decision is no longer between AI and Office. It is about which platform can power your daily work better.
