📱 OpenAI Isn’t Building Just One Device

OpenAI is no longer planning a single AI gadget. President Greg Brockman says the company is building a family of devices built around speaking rather than typing, and that people should expect them soon. He named no forms, prices or dates, and batted away Apple’s fresh trade-secret lawsuit over its hardware work.

• A family, not a gadget – Brockman confirmed OpenAI is developing a family of products for interacting with its models, leaving forms, features, prices and launch order undisclosed.

• Voice over typing – He expects people to speak to computers for most tasks, pointing at ambient, low-friction hardware that is voice-first rather than voice-only.

• Its own silicon – OpenAI is also building custom chips, and reports point to a first product that is a portable smart speaker with no display.

• Apple in the wings – On Apple’s suit over alleged hardware secrets, tied to work with former Apple designer Jony Ive, Brockman said OpenAI has “no interest in other companies’ trade secrets.”

It reaches authorised local files and apps, blends them with Microsoft 365 and the web, and will build documents, update spreadsheets and organise folders. It is rolling out to Max and Enterprise Max plans starting at $200 a month.

💳 Google Pay Can Now Explain Where Your Money Went

Google has switched on Ask Google Pay, a Gemini-powered conversational layer inside the payments app. Launched July 29 as an opt-in feature, it answers spoken or typed questions about your own spending, surfaces savings and offers, and explains concepts like credit scores, SIPs and compound interest across ten Indian languages.

• Gemini moves into the wallet – Ask Google Pay is a conversational experience built into the app, answering voice or text questions about your transactions and spending habits.

• It explains, not just reports – Beyond spending patterns it breaks down credit scores, SIPs, tax regimes and compound interest, teaching finance to people who never thought to ask.

• Ten languages, opt-in only – The feature supports 10 Indian languages, is opt-in, and Google says your financial data stays entirely under your control.

• Credit expands too – Google also launched Google Pay Flex with SBI Card on RuPay and VISA, with instant Stars redemption at 1 Star = ₹1, flexible EMIs and a year of Google AI Plus at 50% off.
