Hello There!
Google taught Gemini to think and talk at the same time, which means your AI assistant can now finish the job while it is still explaining it to you. OpenAI, Google and Anthropic are quietly building their own AI watchdog, which means the referees of the AI race may end up being the players. And Salesforce wants to make the software screen disappear entirely, which means the app you spent years learning may soon be a conversation.
Here's what's making headlines in the world of AI and innovation today.
In today's AI Pulse
🎙️ Gemini Talks and Thinks – Google's Gemini 3.8 Live models reason, run tools and switch between 97 languages mid-conversation.
🛡️ AI Labs Build a Watchdog – OpenAI confirms it is working with Anthropic and Google on a FINRA-style AI standards body.
⚡ Salesforce Retires the Screen – AIforce pushes CRM data, logic and permissions into Slack, Claude and any AI interface.

🧠 The Pulse
Google has launched Gemini 3.8 Live and Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking, two voice models that reason, run tools and read visual context while they keep talking. Extended Thinking speaks and thinks at the same time, both switch between 97 languages mid-conversation, and they are rolling out across the Gemini API, Gemini Live, Search Live and Workspace.
📌 The Download
Two models, two jobs – Gemini 3.8 Live is tuned for fast, cost-efficient dialogue with visual grounding, while Extended Thinking takes on multi-step reasoning for complex tasks.
It thinks while it talks – Extended Thinking reasons and speaks simultaneously, acknowledging a request with early verbal cues while tool calls and API actions finish in the background.
The benchmarks back it up – Google reports 82.6 on the Artificial Analysis Speech to Speech Quality Index, 68.6% on τ-Voice and 97.7% on Big Bench Audio, plus second place in Speech Agent Arena.
Rollout is wide – Developers get both models in the Gemini API and AI Studio, Search Live gets 3.8 Live, Gemini Live gets Extended Thinking for Pro and Ultra subscribers, and enterprises start with a private preview.
💡 What This Means for You
Voice AI is moving from dictation to delegation. You will increasingly brief an assistant out loud, let it work in the background and check in on progress, the way you would with a capable colleague. The skill to build now is giving precise spoken instructions and knowing which outputs still need a human check.

🧠 The Pulse
OpenAI has confirmed it is working with Anthropic and Google on a possible AI standards body, after reports that the three rivals have met regularly since July. The idea comes from Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, who proposed a FINRA-style, industry-funded organization that would test the most powerful models before they reach the public.
📌 The Download
Rivals at one table – Representatives of OpenAI, Anthropic and Google have been meeting since July, and OpenAI's global policy chief Chris Lehane says the companies would rather cooperate on safety than compete on it.
Hassabis wrote the blueprint – The proposal traces back to a July essay by Google DeepMind's Demis Hassabis calling for an independent body that evaluates frontier models before release.
FINRA is the model – The body would mirror the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, funded by the industry but staffed with independent technical experts, with its powers and enforcement still undecided.
No regulator required, they say – OpenAI believes the three do not need an antitrust waiver to coordinate on safety, while critics ask whether competitors can credibly police themselves.
💡 What This Means for You
Shared standards would eventually decide which models your employer approves, how they are audited and what safeguards ship inside your tools. Start treating governance as part of tool selection now: ask vendors how their models are tested, who evaluates them and what happens when a check fails. That question is about to become routine.

🧠 The Pulse
At Dreamforce, Salesforce unveiled AIforce, a live interface layer that pushes its data, workflows, business logic, permissions and governance into whatever AI interface people already use. Instead of clicking through fixed Salesforce screens, users describe the interface they need and agents assemble it on the fly, launching first through Claudeforce, Slackforce and Agentforce Coworker.
📌 The Download
Screens become optional – AIforce lets employees work with Salesforce from Slack, Claude or Agentforce Coworker instead of navigating the traditional CRM interface.
Interfaces built on request – Users compose live, task-specific interfaces simply by describing them, so the layout forms around the job rather than the other way round.
Governance travels with the data – Permissions, security and business logic stay attached to the Salesforce context, and Salesforce says the system is built with Zero Data Retention.
Adoption is already moving – Claudeforce is in beta, and Salesforce says 100,000 users activated Agentforce Coworker within 35 days of its release.
💡 What This Means for You
Enterprise software is shifting from menus to outcomes. If your CRM, ERP or project tools follow this pattern, your value moves from knowing where every button lives to briefing agents clearly, reviewing what they did and understanding the authorization boundaries they operate within. Process knowledge just became more valuable than software navigation.
