Hello There!

Google is strapping four of its AI chips to a satellite and launching them into orbit next week, which means the cloud may soon sit literally above the clouds. Gemini can now phone a business, wait on hold, and book your table while you watch the live transcript, which means your least favorite chore finally has an assistant. And Meta now turns a single prompt into a playable game you can publish straight to Facebook and Instagram, which means the next viral hit could come from someone who has never written a line of code.

Here's what's making headlines in the world of AI and innovation today.

In today's AI Pulse

  • 🚀 Google Sends AI Chips Into Orbit – Four TPUs launch next week to test whether AI can run in space.

  • 📞 Gemini Makes Your Calls – Pixel 11 users can let Gemini phone businesses, wait on hold, and book for them.

  • 🎮 Meta Turns Prompts Into Games – Horizon Create builds playable games you can publish to Facebook and Instagram.

Engineers mounting AI chips onto a satellite before launch

🧠 The Pulse

Google is sending four of its Tensor Processing Units into orbit next week aboard SpaceX's Transporter-18 rideshare, inside a Planet Labs-built prototype satellite for Project Suncatcher. The test will measure whether AI chips can survive launch forces, cosmic radiation, and cooling in a vacuum: the first real step toward solar-powered AI data centers in space.

📌 The Download

  • Four TPUs, one satellite – The prototype, built with Planet Labs, carries four Google TPUs on SpaceX's Transporter-18 mission, marking Google's first orbital test of its own AI hardware.

  • Built to be punished – Engineers will track how the chips handle launch vibration of up to 10G, radiation from solar events and cosmic rays, and heat dissipation with no air to cool them.

  • The solar math – Google says satellites in low Earth orbit can generate up to eight times more solar power than panels on Earth, easing AI's growing energy crunch.

  • More launches coming – Two more satellites are planned for 2027 to test the high-bandwidth laser links needed to cluster orbital chips into a working AI network.

💡 What This Means for You

AI's biggest bottleneck is no longer just algorithms; it is power, cooling, and physical capacity. Google betting on orbit shows how far tech giants will go to secure compute. Expect energy and capacity to shape AI pricing and availability, and build your AI plans assuming compute stays scarce and strategic.

AI assistant on a smartphone calling a restaurant on the user's behalf

🧠 The Pulse

Google has started testing Call for Me, a Gemini feature that phones local businesses on your behalf. Pixel 11 owners in the U.S. with a paid Gemini plan can have it check stock, book tables, reschedule appointments, and even wait on hold, while a live transcript lets them take over at any moment.

📌 The Download

  • Real errands, real calls – Gemini can check product availability, make restaurant reservations, reschedule appointments, place items on hold, and navigate automated phone menus.

  • Hold music is its problem – The assistant waits on hold for you, then carries the conversation, using your own phone number for the outgoing call.

  • You stay in the loop – A live transcript shows every line of the conversation, and you can jump in and take over the call whenever you want.

  • A deliberately small start – Access is limited to U.S. Pixel 11 owners on a paid Gemini plan using the beta Phone app, because Google says real-world conversations are nuanced.

💡 What This Means for You

AI assistants are graduating from answering questions to completing real-world tasks. List the routine calls in your week, from vendor follow-ups to scheduling, that an agent could handle. Keep a human in the loop, set clear rules on what information it may share, and verify outcomes before trusting it with critical conversations.

A 3D game world emerging from a smartphone after a single prompt

🧠 The Pulse

Meta has unveiled Horizon Create and Horizon Studio, AI tools that turn a text prompt into a playable 2D or 3D game. Creators can build on a phone or in a browser, refine the game in plain language, and publish directly to Facebook, Instagram, and Horizon, with no game engine or coding required.

📌 The Download

  • Describe it, play it – Horizon Create generates environments, characters, progression, difficulty, and multiplayer features from a simple prompt, right on your phone.

  • Studio for the details – Browser-based Horizon Studio adds visual scene editing and asset control alongside natural-language prompting, with no install or gaming PC needed.

  • A built-in audience – Finished games get native distribution across Facebook, Instagram, and Horizon, with monetization through in-game revenue and the Meta Horizon Creator Fund.

  • Guardrails included – Every game passes Meta's safety checks and receives an automated age rating, and early access is rolling out gradually through a waitlist.

💡 What This Means for You

Generative AI is moving from single assets to complete interactive experiences. The same approach could soon power training simulations, onboarding games, and interactive process walkthroughs. Imagine turning a written procedure into something your team actually plays, then keep humans reviewing it for accuracy and quality before it goes live.
