😳 Why Did Google Just Put AI Chips in Orbit?
Google launched four AI chips into space, Microsoft's Copilot chief is walking out, and Tesla just halved the memory on its next AI chip.

The Ultimate Claude Code Guide to ship like Anthropic engineers
AI will write 90% of code by the end of 2026, and only 10% of developers will stay relevant.
The engineers in that 10% aren't smarter. They just know how to use AI.
We put together the exact playbook Anthropic engineers use to make sure you're in the top 10%.

Hello There!
Google just launched AI chips into orbit to test data centers in space, which means your next cloud region might literally be in the sky. Microsoft's Copilot architect is heading for the exit, which means the future of Office now has a new set of hands on the wheel. And Tesla halved the memory on its next AI chip to build more robots, which means even Elon is now shopping on a budget.
Here's what's making headlines in the world of AI and innovation today.
In today's AI Pulse
🚀 New Course Launch – AIGPE's AI-Powered Lean Six Sigma White Belt is now live (launch offer inside).
🛰️ Google Launches AI Into Orbit – Four TPUs ride a prototype satellite to test data centers in space.
🔄 Microsoft Loses Its Copilot Chief – Ryan Roslansky exits as Nadella redraws Microsoft 365 reporting lines.
💾 Tesla Halves AI5 Memory – Musk trades RAM for robot volume to scale Optimus production.

🧠 The Pulse
Google's Project Suncatcher left the whiteboard on October 1, when a SpaceX Falcon 9 carried its first prototype satellite, packed with four Tensor Processing Units, into low Earth orbit. Built with Planet, the mission tests a bold idea: can AI chips survive radiation and temperature swings well enough to run data centers in space?
📌 The Download
Four TPUs in orbit – The prototype carries four Google TPUs, roughly one data-center server's worth of compute, on a solar-powered satellite in a sun-synchronous dawn-dusk orbit.
Space is the stress test – Engineers will measure how the chips handle launch vibration, cosmic radiation, and thermal extremes while running real machine-learning workloads.
Sunlight is the prize – In the right orbit, solar panels see near-continuous sunlight, potentially sidestepping the power and cooling limits now straining data centers on Earth.
A long road ahead – Two more satellites testing laser links follow in 2027, the long-term vision is an 80+ satellite constellation, and cost parity is not expected before the mid-2030s.
💡 What This Means for You
AI's real bottleneck is no longer just smarter models; it is electricity, cooling, and chips. When the world's biggest companies start launching hardware into orbit to find power, expect compute costs and availability to shape the pricing of your AI tools. Track infrastructure news the way you track software releases.

🧠 The Pulse
Ryan Roslansky, the executive who ran LinkedIn and then took charge of Office and Microsoft 365 Copilot, will leave Microsoft at the end of 2026 after nearly 18 years. Satya Nadella used the moment to redraw reporting lines, while insisting the Copilot-first "operating system for work" strategy is not changing.
📌 The Download
A key exit – Roslansky departs at year-end and will stay on as an adviser to Nadella through the transition.
Copilot's architect – Nadella credited his team with building the product, engineering, and design foundations for Office living inside Copilot.
New reporting lines – Sumit Chauhan and Lan Ye move under Charles Lamanna, Jon Friedman reports to Jacob Andreou, and LinkedIn CEO Dan Shapero now reports directly to Nadella.
Part of a pattern – The exit follows other senior departures as Microsoft keeps reshuffling the leaders behind its AI products.
💡 What This Means for You
When the leader behind your daily software changes, priorities can shift quietly. If your organization runs on Microsoft 365, watch for changes in Copilot pricing, licensing, and rollout pace over the next two quarters, and keep your own AI adoption plan tied to measurable outcomes, not a vendor's roadmap.

🧠 The Pulse
Elon Musk says Tesla cut the memory on its next-generation AI5 chip in half, to 72GB, and on AI6 by a third, to 144GB. The reason is blunt: it was the only way to secure enough parts for Optimus robot production while slashing costs. Musk insists robot performance will barely change.
📌 The Download
Memory cut hard – AI5 drops to 72GB of LP5 RAM, down 50%, and AI6 falls to 144GB of LP6, down a third.
Volume over specs – Musk said the cut was the only way to get enough memory supply for Optimus production, and it greatly reduces chip cost.
Bandwidth is the bet – Musk argues memory bandwidth, which is unchanged, is the real bottleneck, so the hit to Optimus performance should be negligible.
Supply chains set the limits – The move shows that in physical AI, component availability, not just engineering ambition, decides what ships and when.
💡 What This Means for You
This is a textbook trade-off decision: give up a spec nobody will feel to unlock volume and cost. The same discipline applies to your projects. Separate what truly drives performance from what merely looks impressive on paper, then optimize hard for the constraint that actually limits throughput.
