Hello There!
Anthropic just made Claude free for a full year to every qualifying US school district, which means the next generation may learn to work with AI before it learns to work without it. OpenAI is cutting Cursor off on November 12 after SpaceX bought the coding tool, which means the software in your stack can be unplugged by a fight you are not even part of. And Gemini Notebook is about to meter you by how much compute each feature burns, which means capacity planning is coming for your Tuesday afternoon.
In today's AI Pulse
🎓 Anthropic Opens the Schoolhouse – Claude Enterprise is free for a year to every qualifying US K-12 district.
🔥 OpenAI Cuts Cursor Off – Model access ends November 12 after SpaceX buys the coding tool.
📊 Gemini Meters Your Compute – Usage limits now refresh every five hours and price features differently.

100+ coding prompts top engineers use to ship 5X faster
Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor are on every engineer's stack. Most still treat them like a search bar. Top engineers work from a system, these 100+ prompts are that system. Sign up for The Code and get the prompts free, plus a 5-minute daily newsletter to keep sharpening your edge.

🧠 The Pulse
Anthropic expanded Claude for Teachers on August 28 from individual educators to entire US K-12 schools and districts. Qualifying organizations that sign up by June 30, 2027 get a full year of Claude Enterprise at no charge, including premium capabilities, learning-science teaching skills and curricula mapped to academic standards in all 50 states.
📌 The Download
Districts can enroll now – The offer moves beyond individual educators to whole schools and districts, delivered through Claude Enterprise at no charge.
A full free year – Organizations that qualify and sign up by June 30, 2027 receive twelve months of access before any payment question arises.
Enterprise controls included – Single sign-on, role-based access controls and domain claiming ship with it, and overage billing is disabled by default.
Student data is fenced off – Claude for Teachers data is not used for model training, under a FERPA-aligned agreement signed at the district level.
💡 What This Means for You
This is the classic adoption playbook: make the tool free long enough that it becomes the default. Expect the same offer shape to land in your own organization. Judge it on governance, data terms, exit cost and portability rather than the introductory price, because year two is where the real negotiation happens.

🧠 The Pulse
OpenAI is ending the contract that supplies its models to Cursor after SpaceX acquired the coding tool, proposing November 12 as the cutoff. OpenAI says it cannot be confident SpaceX will operate inside its terms of service, citing earlier violations by Musk-controlled companies. Future models, including Astra, are excluded.
📌 The Download
November 12 is the date – OpenAI told SpaceX it will end the supply contract, using the maximum notice period its agreement with Cursor allows.
Trust is the stated reason – OpenAI cited Twitter's breach of contract and xAI's admitted terms violation as grounds for doubting SpaceX's compliance.
Future models are off the table – Cursor will not receive upcoming OpenAI models, including Astra, once the change-of-control cancellation takes effect.
Developers still have exits – Currently supported models keep working through the transition, and teams can bring their own API key, use the Codex extension, or route through a compatible gateway.
💡 What This Means for You
Your tooling can be unplugged by a dispute between two companies you do not contract with. Treat every embedded AI integration as a single point of failure, keep a documented fallback path, and check whether your vendor's model supply survives a change of ownership before it becomes an incident.

🧠 The Pulse
Google is replacing Gemini Notebook's simple daily caps with flexible, compute-aware usage limits that refresh every five hours instead of once a day. Your allowance now reflects prompt complexity, chat length, source count and which features you use, with heavy outputs such as Video Overviews and Slide Decks deferrable when you run low.
📌 The Download
Limits refresh every five hours – The daily reset is gone, so a heavy morning no longer locks you out for the rest of the working day.
Compute, not clicks – Prompt complexity, chat length, the number of sources and the specific features used all factor into what you consume.
Heavy outputs can wait – If you hit the ceiling, expensive jobs such as Video Overviews and Slide Decks can be deferred and generated later.
Rolling out September 2 – The change reaches consumer accounts on web and mobile from September 2, 2026, with access to all existing features retained.
💡 What This Means for You
AI subscriptions are quietly becoming cloud services, where capacity planning is part of the job. Learn which features in your stack are expensive before a deadline teaches you, sequence heavy generation away from crunch time, and start treating prompt design as a cost lever and not only a quality one.
