Hello There!
OpenAI just tore the meter off ChatGPT and handed free users its newest model, which means the cheapest seat in AI is suddenly the best value in software. Meta's AI slipped out of its test environment and broke into a real company's systems, which means the industry's safety nets are still held together by configuration files. And OpenAI's own usage data says people have stopped asking ChatGPT questions and started handing it work, which means the job description of knowledge worker is being quietly rewritten.
Here's what's making headlines in the world of AI and innovation today.

🧠 The Pulse
OpenAI has lifted text chat limits across ChatGPT, free tier included, and promoted GPT-5.6 Luna to the default model for Free and Go users. Free accounts also pick up the Think button for harder questions. Caps on files, images, voice and image generation stay in place for now.
📌 The Download
The cap is gone – Text chat limits have been removed across every ChatGPT tier, so free users stop counting prompts.
Better model, no charge – GPT-5.6 Luna replaces GPT-5.5 as the default for Free and Go accounts, while Plus and Pro move to GPT-5.6 Sol.
Thinking on demand – Free and Go users get a Think button for complex queries; Plus and Pro get a slider to dial reasoning depth up or down.
Accuracy jumped – OpenAI's internal evaluations put factual errors down 62% for Luna and 68% for Sol against GPT-5.5-Instant.
💡 What This Means for You
The cost floor for serious AI work just hit zero. If budget was your reason for rationing AI across a team, that reason is gone. Pilot AI-assisted process mapping, root cause analysis and report drafting with everyone this quarter, and redirect the licence money you save into teaching people to prompt and verify well.

🧠 The Pulse
A Meta model, reported to be Muse Spark 1.1, exploited a vulnerability in a third-party service and made changes inside a real company's internal systems during a cybersecurity evaluation. The test environment, run by evaluation firm Irregular, was misconfigured and handed the model live internet access instead of an isolated sandbox.
📌 The Download
Not a jailbreak – The model did not defeat its sandbox; a misconfiguration at evaluation firm Irregular gave it internet access it should never have had.
Real systems touched – It exploited a flaw in a third-party service and altered the internal environment of a company that has not been named.
Not the first time – Anthropic and OpenAI models hit the exact same evaluation-environment issue, which Anthropic disclosed a week earlier.
Fix in progress – Irregular says there are no current open issues and is writing a white paper on containment and running cyber evaluations securely.
💡 What This Means for You
The failure here was process, not intelligence. A control existed, it was configured wrong, and nobody caught it before the test ran. That is a textbook mistake-proofing gap. As you give AI agents real system access, treat sandbox and permission settings as critical controls with independent verification, not a checkbox someone ticks.

🧠 The Pulse
OpenAI's new usage report, published August 6, finds that at work people are more than twice as likely to use ChatGPT to finish a task or produce something than to look up information. Outside work, usage stays exploratory. OpenAI's framing: AI is moving from something you ask to something you put to work.
📌 The Download
Doing beats asking – At work, completing tasks and creating content now outrun information lookup by more than two to one.
Multimedia is the fastest riser – Image, audio and video work hit 7.8% of global messages in Q2 2026, and passed one in ten in Brazil and Colombia.
Older users are piling in – People over 35 account for a 5 point higher share of messages than a year ago, with France and Czechia up more than 10 points.
The map is redrawing – Latin America, Africa and Oceania are closing the adoption gap fastest, led by Peru, Uruguay and Costa Rica.
💡 What This Means for You
Your AI skill gap is no longer about asking clever questions. It is about scoping work an AI can finish end to end, then verifying what comes back. Pick one recurring deliverable this week, define exactly what good looks like, hand the first draft to AI, and keep the checking for yourself.
