š§ The Pulse
OpenAI analyzed more than 800,000 U.S. ChatGPT messages and found that 43.5% of occupation-specific usage involved tasks normally belonging to a different profession. The research suggests AI is not just speeding up existing work; it is redrawing the boundaries between roles, letting one person absorb work once handed to a specialist.
šThe Download
Job boundaries are blurring ā After stripping out generic tasks like writing and scheduling, 43.5% of occupation-specific messages concerned work associated with another occupation entirely.
Some roles cross furthest ā Outside-occupation tasks made up 77% of customer-experience messages, 75% for designers, 69% for HR, 56% for legal and 53% for marketers.
Finance and IT travel widest ā Financial calculation and technology troubleshooting showed up across nearly every occupation, while marketing and engineering tasks spread the farthest from home.
Small teams cross more ā Moderate users in smaller workspaces showed more crossover than those in large organizations, where a dedicated specialist is still a desk away.
š”What This Means for You
Your role will expand before your title does. AI can now absorb the analysis, troubleshooting, research or design work you used to hand off, which is real leverage if you build those adjacent skills deliberately. Just remember that accountability does not cross job lines as easily as tasks do.
š§ The Pulse
Googleās AI Overviews now appear in 43% of searches, up from 15% a year earlier, according to Similarweb data reported by TechCrunch. Visits to Googleās conversational AI Mode more than doubled to 279 million. Generated answers are quietly becoming the default search experience rather than an optional experiment.
šThe Download
Overviews nearly tripled ā AI Overviews appeared in 43% of searches versus 15% a year ago, answering questions directly above the traditional blue links.
AI Mode more than doubled ā Visits to Googleās conversational AI Mode rose from 126 million in June 2025 to 279 million by May 2026.
Google becomes the destination ā Longer search sessions show users staying inside Googleās generated experience instead of clicking out to source websites.
Publishers feel the squeeze ā Summaries answer the query without a click, cutting referral traffic and reigniting fights over attribution and compensation.
š”What This Means for You
Your fastest research shortcut is also your biggest blind spot. Treat an AI Overview as a starting point, not a citation: open the underlying sources, check dates and verify numbers before they land in a deck. If your organization publishes content, assume search referrals keep shrinking and build owned channels now.
š§ The Pulse
Meta is rolling its AI assistant into Threads direct messages worldwide, letting users discuss posts, images, videos and links privately with the chatbot. The integration completes Meta AIās sweep across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and now Threads, turning a social feed into a private recommendation engine.
šThe Download
DMs get an assistant ā Threads users can now open a private conversation with Meta AI directly inside the messaging interface, rolling out globally.
Shared content gains context ā Send a post, image, link or video to Meta AI, then ask follow-up questions or request a deeper explanation.
Meta closes the gap ā With Threads covered, Meta AI now sits inside every major Meta surface, capturing questions that would otherwise go to ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok.
Controls still apply ā Meta is still testing public assistant replies in feeds; users can mute Meta AI, hide its replies or mark them unhelpful.
š”What This Means for You
AI assistants are moving into the apps you already have open rather than waiting in a separate tab. The convenience is the point, and so is the risk: anything you forward into an embedded assistant is being processed. Check your organizationās policy before pasting work content into a social DM.
