⚠️ Can You Trust Your Eyes? OpenAI Says No

In partnership with

Hello There!

Meta is redrawing the lines on privacy by planning to use conversations with its AI assistants to power targeted ads across Facebook and Instagram. Samsung and SK hynix are joining forces with OpenAI on its Stargate initiative, turning Korea into a key hub for chips and data centers. Meanwhile, OpenAI’s Sora 2 is blurring the line between real and fake with TikTok-style deepfake videos. And Google is bringing Gemini into the home, transforming smart devices into conversational, proactive partners.

AI is reshaping privacy, fueling global infrastructure, blurring reality, and reinventing the smart home.

🧠The Pulse

Meta will soon use data from your AI chats to sell targeted ads across Facebook and Instagram. The company says this will begin on December 16 with an updated privacy policy. While Meta frames it as a way to make ads more relevant, the move has raised fresh concerns about privacy.

📌The Download

  • Meta announced that conversations with Meta AI and other AI features, including smart glasses, AI video feeds, and image tools, will now be used to refine its advertising system. If you chat about hiking, you may see hiking gear ads on Facebook or Instagram.

  • The new rules will apply globally, except in South Korea, the UK, and the EU, where stricter privacy laws block this type of data use. More than a billion people use Meta AI monthly, often in long and detailed conversations. This creates a rich stream of personal data that Meta can add to its already vast ad-targeting system.

  • Users cannot opt out. Meta says sensitive topics like health, religion, political beliefs, or sexual orientation won’t be used for ads. Still, critics point out that this expands the company’s reach into personal interactions. Meta isn’t placing ads inside AI chats yet, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg has suggested it could happen in the future.

💡What This Means for You

For users, this is a reminder that “free” AI tools are rarely free, your data is often the product. Businesses should note that AI interactions are quickly becoming another advertising channel. For professionals, it’s a signal that privacy lines are being redrawn. If Meta can monetize AI chats this way, other tech companies may follow.

🧠The Pulse

OpenAI is partnering with Samsung and SK hynix to secure the massive chip supply needed for its Stargate project. The companies will work together to produce up to 900,000 semiconductor wafers per month and expand AI data center capacity in South Korea. This deal positions Korea as a major hub for global AI infrastructure.

📌The Download

  • Samsung and SK hynix will dramatically ramp up manufacturing of advanced DRAM wafers, targeting 900,000 starts per month. These wafers are critical for training and running OpenAI’s next-generation models, and ensure a steady pipeline of compute resources as demand for AI grows.

  • OpenAI signed agreements with the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT and SK Telecom to explore building new data centers across the country, including floating centers designed to reduce carbon emissions and cut costs. These facilities would support both local infrastructure and OpenAI’s global expansion.

  • Beyond chips and infrastructure, Samsung and SK will begin deploying ChatGPT Enterprise and API tools into their own operations. This not only improves workflows but also highlights how AI partnerships can accelerate innovation across energy, networks, and enterprise productivity.

💡What This Means for You

This partnership shows how AI growth depends not just on software, but also on securing the hardware and infrastructure to run it. For businesses, it’s a reminder that advanced AI requires global-scale supply chains and government cooperation. For professionals, the deal signals that Korea is becoming a central player in AI, and that opportunities tied to chips, data centers, and AI services are likely to grow quickly.

🧠The Pulse

OpenAI has launched Sora 2, a powerful AI system for generating video and audio, along with a TikTok-style app to share creations. The tool can create lifelike deepfake-style clips of real people, raising concerns about misinformation and trust in digital content.

📌The Download

  • OpenAI’s latest model now generates video with synchronized audio, realistic physics, and multilingual dialogue. It’s accessible via Sora.com, through an invite-only iOS app in the US/Canada, and for ChatGPT Pro users, with APIs coming soon.

  • The Sora app functions like TikTok with infinite scroll feeds, “Cameos” where users upload biometric data to let others remix their likeness, and parental controls. Videos carry watermarks and metadata marking them as AI-generated, though workarounds are already emerging.

  • Public figures can’t be generated without consent, and explicit/violent content is banned. But history shows guardrails get bypassed, raising concerns about misinformation, bullying, and copyright abuse as ultra-realistic deepfakes spread. CEO Sam Altman made his cameo public, unleashing a wave of bizarre but convincing videos — from serving Pikachu coffee to stealing Nvidia GPUs.

💡What This Means for You

Sora 2 shows how close AI is to blurring the line between real and fake media. For creators, it offers new tools for storytelling and trends. But for professionals, regulators, and the public, it highlights urgent challenges in authenticity, copyright, and online safety. Expect rising pressure on companies, governments, and users to decide what counts as “real” in the digital age.

Google is rolling out Gemini for Home, an AI upgrade that replaces Google Assistant on smart speakers, displays, and devices. It brings natural conversations, smarter home control, and AI-powered camera insights, transforming the home assistant into a true collaborative partner.

📌The Download

  • Gemini enables fluid, natural back-and-forth chats with 10 realistic voices and contextual memory, so you can speak casually instead of using rigid commands. It can brainstorm, adapt mid-conversation, and even refine recipes or event plans on the fly. The new “Ask Home” hub lets you run complex automations in plain language, like locking doors, adjusting lights with exceptions, or simulating activity when you’re away. No coding, just description.

  • Cameras now provide story-style alerts, like “a USPS driver delivered a package” instead of vague motion pings. Daily “Home Briefs” summarize hours of footage, and you can search video history by asking questions like, “What time did the kids get home?”

  • Advanced features such as Gemini Live conversations, AI-powered alerts, Home Briefs, and Ask Home automations will require a new Google Home Premium plan ($10/month, bundled with AI Pro and Ultra). Rollout begins this month via early access in the Google Home app.

💡What This Means for You

Gemini makes the smart home more intuitive and personalized, shifting assistants from reactive tools to proactive partners. For users, it means fewer menus and commands — just natural conversations. For Google, it marks a push toward subscription-based AI services, with advanced features tied to just a few dollars a month.

BOOK OF THE DAY

With real stories and practical insights, Patrick Lencioni shows why the most powerful edge any company can have isn’t a brilliant strategy or cutting-edge technology—it’s organizational health. The Advantage is a guide to building a cohesive, aligned, and resilient organization where people work together with clarity and purpose.

  • Healthy Organizations Win – Many companies don’t fail from lack of intelligence, but from dysfunction. By focusing on clarity, trust, and alignment, leaders unlock performance that outpaces even the smartest competitors.

  • Four Disciplines of Organizational Health – Lencioni emphasizes four steps: build a cohesive team, create clarity, over-communicate it, and reinforce it through systems to transform how teams work.

  • Real Impact Beyond Strategy – Healthy companies decide faster, gain stronger buy-in, and reduce politics. Leaders who prioritize health drive results and create workplaces where people are motivated and proud.

💡 Why you can’t ignore this:

In a competitive world, strategies can be copied, and technology can be matched. But a healthy, cohesive organization is nearly impossible to replicate. Leaders who prioritize organizational health give their teams an enduring advantage that drives success in the long run.
